Agisting or boarding is a very old idea that dates back to ancient Greece. It has its roots in the Latin word, jacere: to lie (as in animals lying together). Agistment in the modern day form, is seen especially in the horse industry, in which boarding stables dot the landscape all over Kentucky and various other states. However, agistment also has a very strong place in the alpaca industry, and may be defined by some as alpaca ownership without land ownership.
At Eagle Bend, we offer agistment on a limited, first-come, first-serve basis. Clients who come to breed to our herdsires are given the option to leave their females with cria-at-side during the breeding time and subsequent 60 day confirmation period (see Breeding Services).
Yet we also provide agistment for buyers who wish to own alpacas but do not have their farm in order, or do not wish to own a farm at all, and perhaps, just wish to own an alpaca for investment considerations without the hands-on, day-to-day care.
At Eagle Bend, we can provide a space for your specific needs at a very reasonable cost. Together we can work out your particular agistment situation and alpaca ownership goals, while assuring that your investment is given excellent care.
Contact us to explore agistment opportunities at our facility. (see the ‘Contact Us’ section of the website.)
