Eagle Bend Alpacas offers the newest breeding program in Kentucky. Our herdsire line contains some of the most well-known, tried and tested genetics in the industry (please see our herdsire page on this website) and rival any in the state. Not only are our males genetically pre-potent, they also are passing along their phenotype as well. Eagle Bend’s herdsires are show quality, proven in the show ring by blue ribbons and/or championship placements, competing against well-known national contenders and under the scrutiny of AOBA’s staff of highly qualified judges. We are offering their services to your females with confidence, knowing that you desire to build the best herd possible. We are your partners in this endeavor.
Philosophy:
At Eagle Bend, we respect your commitment to the alpaca industry by purchasing the best females your individual budget will allow. We understand the great amount of thought, business planning, and emotional energy that goes into the purchase of a female alpaca. With that in mind, we provide the cleanest and most stress-free environment that is possible in order to maximize breeding for your alpaca. We work diligently to insure that you are confident in leaving your investment in our hands, knowing that we are caring for your girl just as you, yourself would.
Costs:
Stud services across the country vary, but we have kept ours in the line of average of other successful farms. All costs are spelled out to you, the owner, in the beginning, and we will not surprise you with hidden, exorbitant fees at a later date. We keep our clients informed of each step of the breeding process, and should difficulties be encountered, will seek your counsel before proceeding. If you have had negative experiences in the past with getting your females bred, we promise that will not happen here! We strive to build our clientele by promoting positive experiences, happy customers, and healthy, pregnant alpacas.
Provisions of care:
We are set up to provide your alpaca, especially ones with cria at side, with their own environment – not co-mingled with our own herd! For this reason, we will not overcrowd our program by accepting so many females for breeding that we cannot adequately accommodate your animals. Breedings are set up on a first-come, first-served basis, but we will strive to work within the time frame of your schedule.
We believe it is most advantageous to you, the owner, and your alpaca, to get your female bred and back on her own farm, in her own environment as quickly as possible. This allows for the dam to settle in to her pregnancy on her own farm, with those animals she is daily accustomed to sharing space with, and thereby promoting stress-free pregnancies. For that reason, we will strive to obtain a state of pregnancy in your girl, and arrange her return home 45-60 days.
In addition to behaviour testing, we also provide abdominal ultrasounds to determine positive pregnancy status, thereby eliminating the guess work that often accompanies behaviour testing. In so doing, there is less likelihood of over-breeding your female. Our goal is a one-breeding pregnancy in each female.
Drive-By Breedings:
Because we believe that most customers prefer having their females at home, especially those with crias at side, we encourage drive-by breedings, and in fact, offer discounted rates for those who choose this option. If you are coming a long distance, we can arrange overnight accommodations for you at Willis Graves Bed & Breakfast Inn here in Burlington, KY.
Commitment to Excellence:
The alpaca industry will only expand if we, the owners and breeders, set a high standard of excellence in customer service, honesty in business dealings, and integrity of business ethics. We guarantee that our business ethics, honesty, and customer service are unparalleled and we will do everything to see that our clients are satisfied. We want your repeat business and your friendship!
