At Eagle Bend, we are dedicated to instruction! Farm tours for varied groups are available at no cost in order to enhance your understanding of alpacas as livestock and to increase your knowledge of how alpaca fiber can benefit our economy. Fiber artisans will also find a haven for activities. We can provide raw fiber for projects. We offer classes monthly for those wishing to pursue heritage skills.
Introduction to Spinning and Fiber Basics is a three hour class offered monthly. Learn to spin fiber into yarn. All materials are provided including roving and the spinning wheel. Cost is $75/person. Refreshments are provided. Leave the class with your first skein of hand-spun yarn! Class size is limited to 5 persons, so it is imperative to register early. Beginner’s Knitting is a two hour class offered monthly. Learn knit and purl stitches and begin your first project! Cost of instruction is only $10/person and knitting supplies must be purchased at the farm, where you will find a vast assortment of beautiful alpaca yarn. Northern Kentucky Spinners is comprised of a group of ladies in this area who just love to spin. The group meets the second Tuesday of each month, 6:30 p.m., and we spin until we decide to leave. Refreshments are provided by group members. It is a social time, but also a time to improve your spinning skills. Not for beginners!!! After you have attended the Intro to Spinning Class, you are eligible to attend. This is a free offering.
Sit-and-Knit At the Farm is also a free offering to local knitters. Mother/daughter pairs are encouraged to attend. This group meets for the sole satisfaction of knitting, socializing, and sharing new projects with one another. Refreshments are provided by the various members. Discussion is free flowing ! This group meets on the first and third Monday of each month at 6:30 p.m.
